For those of you who may not know Billy passed away on Nov 27 of a stroke. He had been in and out of the hospital recently.
A memorial service was held yesterday at St. Matthew's church in Walnut Creek. The were quite a few people there, at least one from every crew, and we could have probably staffed a race.
Billy was 48, and had worked SCCA, USARM, and NASA events in the area for as long as I can recall.
This is from the worker's prayer that was printed by John Seidel
for Billy:
Our stewards who aren't in the tower, hallowed be thy word.
Thy weekend come, thy race be run on the turns as it is in the tower.
Give us this day one hour for lunch and forgive us our doodahs as we
forgive those who crash on our turns.
Lead us to the after race social and deliver us home safely.
For thine is the track, the horse power, and the enduro forever and ever.
In the name of the steward and the driver and the wholey worker.
A note from the family of departed friend Billy Garrison:
To the SCCA Board of Directors, members and his many racing friends.
A heartfelt Thank-You for your cards, flowers, pictures and all your generous contributions which made Billy's memorial so special. We want to express sincere appreciation for all the love and support extended to us at the time of Billy's death.
God Bless you all.
With our love,
Edna Garrison
